The next event was just too good to pass up. So last Friday I get a call asking if I want to do a tasting with Riana Mondavi to which I said yes of course as this is just too good to be true! So back we go to Little Italy Friday Oct 21st 7pm. I know its short notice but we get such few wine personalities I just had to grab it!
Here’s the story. Riana is the granddaughter of Peter Mondavi. Peter Mondavi is Robert Mondavi’s brother. Everybody was living at Charles Krug when Robert left the Krug winery and branched out on his own. I have been tasting the Krug wines for years and there is nothing wrong here. These guys own 700 acres of Napa Valley floor Cabernet, Merlot, Petite Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc plus Carneros Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Cabernet’s are terrific! So I couldn’t say no.
We only have 30 seats tariff will be $50 per person gratuity inclusive. I am still hammering out the details but looks like we will taste the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is all Napa Valley stuff. I will be getting with Akis and PJ (General Manager and Owner of Little Italy) tomorrow on the menu.
