2008 Little Ox Shiraz Arrives!

I have been chasing this wine for years and, well, I gotta tell ya the
Little Ox is everything I hoped it would be. I am positively thrilled
to be able to offer it to you! It’s from Andrew Hardy the great great
grandson of Thomas Hardy. Every year Andrew gets a few tons of grapes
off the family’s Tintara, McLaren Vale estate. This is true old vine
Australian Shiraz dating back to 1891. He makes two wines Big Ox and
Little Ox. The Big Ox is about $100 and Little Ox is around $25. As a
coincidence Andrew was winemaker for the Petaluma offer a few weeks
ago. So, if you got in on some of that you know how talented this man
is.
My notes; Aromas of black licorice, menthol, blackberry, blueberry and
fresh herb are wound up tight and need time to open. The mouth (where
it all happens) is absolutely delicious! There are fat black and blue
fruits with this almost orange-peal-tangerine bite. Lovely fine grain
tannin and incredible fruit viscosity deliver an exceptional
experience. This wine consistently earns 90 plus ratings and should out
drink its price point for years.
Cheers!
Mike
